Marketing = Customers! Sales! Profits! Oh My!

marketing to increase profits

Marketing! According to Wikipedia, marketing is “the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.”

I love that definition because it focuses on value.

If you are a business owner who appreciates value — and wants more customers, more sales, and more money in your pocket — you’ve come to the right place.

Profit-based marketing gets results… the kind you can take to the bank.

Ignore advice about spending your hard-earned money for “branding” or “getting your name out there.” Effective marketing (even the free kind) will do that for you, in a very positive way, while also helping you to grow your business and INCREASE PROFITS.

Even if you hate money (yeah, right), the simple truth is that without profits, you’ll soon be out of business and no longer able to do what you love or help people with your products or services.

The marketing strategies and tactics discussed here will enable you to attract and retain loyal customers, uncover and maximize hidden assets within your business, dominate your competition, identify areas where you’re losing sales, cut wasteful advertising expenses, and — most importantly — boost your bottom line.

In most cases, you’ll gain a 20% increase in profits within three months.  Wouldn’t that be pretty cool?

You work hard. You deserve more.

By exploring this site and implementing marketing strategies you find here, you can transform your business and your lifestyle.

If you prefer a “do it all for me” marketing service, I can help you with that.

Searching For Help?

Google, owner of YouTube, has created a very cool (and free!) tool that let’s you create “search stories” similar to a popular commercial titled “Parisian Love” that aired during the 2009 Superbowl.

Below is a quick sample I whipped up in about 15 minutes. Imagine what you can do if you devote more time, more thought, and more creativity than I did.

Have fun with it here: YouTube Search Stories

Social Media: Why You Can’t Ignore It

Social media this, social media that… everyone is blabbering on about social media as if your business will disappear into a black hole if you’re not using it. It gets tiring, doesn’t it?

Well, I have good news and bad news. It’s actually the same news — your perspective will determine whether the news is good or bad: social media is here to stay.

If you hate the idea of social media, perhaps you’re being influenced by (and annoyed by) all the blabbering. I have to admit I got sick of hearing about social media long ago. But despite my “sickness” I wondered why everyone was saying social media was so damn important.

I came across a video that answered that question for me, and I believe it will answer it for you. Don’t let the name (“Socialnomics”) fool you. This is not a boring lecture. It’s fast-paced (blink and you might miss something important), interesting, blabber-free… and I guarantee it will help you see social media in an exciting new light.

Too Busy to Blog? Try This Time-Saving Tool!

Business owners are busy people. As the saying goes, time is money. While many business owners know a blog can help to improve their online presence, they feel they don’t have — or can’t afford to take — time to write blog posts on a regular basis. But what if, instead of writing, they could  just talk?

I’ve looked into voice recognition software before, and it can pretty expensive. Business owners have enough to spend their money on already. So when I heard about this free voice recognition software, I thought I’d give it a try.

It’s actually a plugin for WordPress; it’s called VoicePressIt!

Their pitch is that it can help you blog three times faster. That sounds pretty appealing, doesn’t it?

So I downloaded the plugin and I’m using it to create this post.

Robert G. Allen on Education

One of my favorite marketing quotes:

“No matter what your product is, you are ultimately in the education business. Your customers need to be constantly educated about the many advantages of doing business with you, trained to use your products more effectively, and taught how to make never-ending improvement in their lives.” ~ Robert G. Allen

This is the key to effective marketing:  help your prospects and customers to understand why doing business with you is in their own best interest… not by telling them that, but by educating them in a way that leads them to come to that conclusion on their own.

Jay Abraham on Unseen Solutions

One of my favorite marketing quotes:

“You are surrounded by simple, obvious solutions that can dramatically increase your income, power, influence and success. The problem is, you just don’t see them.” ~ Jay Abraham

It’s not your fault. Business owners are rarely marketing experts. When it comes to the solutions Jay is talking about, you probably wouldn’t know them if you looked right at them — and most often, you’re not looking for them at all. You’re too busy running your business, right?  A good marketing consultant (like me, of course) can help you see — and implement — those “invisible” solutions and reap tremendous rewards.

Jay Abraham on Attacking Your Market

One of my favorite marketing quotes:

“If you’re attacking your market from multiple positions and your competition isn’t, you have all the advantage and it will show up in your increased success and income.” ~ Jay Abraham

It’s not difficult to outperform and outsell your competition — and dramatically grow your business — when you develop and implement multiple marketing strategies designed to work together for maximum effect. This is especially true in a slow economy when many of your competitors are cutting back. Do the opposite, and you’ll grow while they languish!

Harry Beckwith on Experts

One of my favorite marketing quotes:

“To sound like an expert, hire one.” ~ Harry Beckwith

You want to sound like an expert so your prospects and customers will trust your advice and buy more of your products/services. But you don’t need to be an expert in marketing or social media (even if you wanted to become expert in those areas, do you have the time?). Hiring an expert can be the smartest investment you can make to grow your business.

Jay Levinson on the Marketing Plan

One of my favorite marketing quotes:

“If you don’t believe in your product, or if you’re not consistent and regular in the way you promote it, the odds of succeeding go way down. The primary function of the marketing plan is to ensure that you have the resources and the wherewithal to do what it takes to make your product work.” ~ Jay Levinson

Many small business owners do not have a plan for marketing their products or services. They don’t even track results of the advertising they do (if they do any). A marketing plan need not be complicated. But having a marketing plan, combined with tracking every marketing activity, can mean the difference between growing your business or going out of business.
